SERV Oxon, Bucks, Northants & Berks went into active service in 2007.
Since then, SERV "OBN" has grown exponentially, rolling out our service to more hospitals, training up more riders and controllers and more recently championed the launch of SERV's service to the Human Milk Banks.
SERV OBN is now one of the larger members of the SERV groups with more than 100 volunteers providing a free service to more than 10 hospitals as well as the John Radcliffe Milk bank in Oxford. We often travel outside our area when required, to places including Great Ormond Street, The Centre for Disease Control in North London, Swindon's Great Western Hospital and NBS Birmingham.
We provide our service 7 days a week, 365 days per year from 7pm - 6am, we also provide 24 hour cover weekends and bank holidays (Including Christmas and New Year).
"SERV OBN found our feet" in 2009 when we completed just 102 runs, we then went on to cover an astonishing 603 runs in 2010 saving the NHS Thousands of pounds.
2011 has had an even busier start with our current total set to exceed 1000 runs by the end of the year in the OBN region
**** Update: Our new service transporting urgent samples from Northampton to Birmingham for tests is now live ****
This new service will speed up testing that will prevent the deaths of pre-term babies
